Careers NSW

Lifelong careers information, advice and professional guidance for NSW residents at any stage of their career, wherever they live.

Careers NSW is an initiative of the NSW government established to provide career guidance and advice to NSW residents seeking to enter the labour market, upgrade skills or change careers.

A pilot program was launched in November 2021 offering 3 key services to adult residents of NSW:

  • A self-service website providing immediate access to a wide range of career guidance information, resources and support.
  • Individual appointments with Industry Experts from a variety of industries for insider insights into careers in their industry.
  • Access to professional Careers Practitioners for tailored career guidance and support in targeted regions of NSW.

Careers NSW launched statewide access to professional Careers Practitioners in December 2022 and is currently working to further develop and expand the program. In-person appointments with Careers Practitioners and trials of complementary school-based career guidance services have started in 2023.

The Career Industry Council of Australia (CICA) commends the NSW Government on the Careers NSW initiative and is proud to have been involved in providing support and expertise throughout the trial and full implementation phases.
Providing free access to career information, advice and guidance for NSW residents at any stage of their career, wherever they live, is vital in ensuring that individuals are empowered and supported to make well informed decisions about their careers.
